DAY 1: Tuesday
Darwin
After making your own way to Darwin it’s time to check in to the Darwin Central Hotel for your overnight stay.

DAY 2: Wednesday
Darwin to Katherine
This morning it’s time to join The Ghan where you’ll travel South past lush, tropical scenery to Katherine and stop for around 4 hours giving you enough time to look around town or enjoy a spectacular Whistle Stop Tour† at Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. (BLD)
DAY 3: Thursday
Alice Springs
Awake to the lovely desert scenery of Central Australia before arriving in Alice Springs where you'll have the remainder of the day to look around. Overnight at the Crowne Plaza Alice Springs. (BL)

DAY 4: Friday
Uluru (Ayers Rock) & Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)
Board your coach and travel through the rugged landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Stop at the Outback Camel Farm, where you have the chance to ride a camel (additional cost) then continue to Ayers Rock Resort. Early in the afternoon, join a tour to the magnificent domes of Kata Tjuta and walk into Walpa Gorge. Late in the afternoon, travel to sunset strip to watch Uluru at sunset. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and admire the spectacular display of light and colour before returning to Ayers Rock Resort, Outback Pioneer Hotel. (B)

Enjoy the taste of a true Aussie- style barbecue dinner near the mighty Australian icon of Uluru (Ayers Rock). Relax in the heart of the rugged Red Centre and savour the mouth-watering flavours of beef, kangaroo and sizzling sausages. Admire the sight of the sun sinking below the desert plain, gradually revealing a magnificent Outback night sky. |
DAY 5: Saturday
Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Alice Springs
Enjoy a tea or coffee as the sun’s first rays strike ‘The Rock’. Join a guided walk to the Mutitjulu waterhole, viewing ancient rock art and hearing stories of Aboriginal legends. Join the guided Mala Walk around the base of Uluru to learn about the geology and flora of the region. Visit Kantju Gorge, then travel to the Cultural Centre, and later visit the Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative where you may see talented Aboriginal artists at work. The more energetic can choose to forgo the Mala Walk and Kantju Gorge to climb to the summit of Uluru and stand 348 metres above the desert floor for amazing views. Depart Ayers Rock Resort for your return journey to Alice Springs where you’ll stay the night at the Crowne Plaza Alice Springs.
DAY 6: Sunday
Rejoin The Ghan to Adelaide
Your morning is free to relax or take in one of the fantastic morning tours listed on page 32 before you transfer to the station. Once aboard you’ll enjoy Gold Service and the timeless outback scenery as you head South overnight to Port Augusta. (BD)
DAY 7: Monday
Arrive Adelaide
Enjoy one last breakfast on board before ending your holiday at Adelaide Parklands Rail Terminal. (B)
